The Canadian Atheist (The CA)

Episode 99

This week, just before the centennial episode (which will be EPIC) Micheal is joined by Dr. Chris Gadsden. Chris is a philosophy professor in Columbia Missouri. We discuss atheism, skepticism, philosophy & a lot more. Chris has put together a great YouTube video series called Thinking Outside, it’s a MUST view. Also, He writes a blog at http://www.groundbelief.com SO definitely check that out too. This is a great conversation & much fun was had. It’s amazing when two people just talk! You all know that’s not always my strong suit. The episode is safe for all ears.

  1. Hi Michael,
My knowledge of philosophy comes from atheist and skeptical podcasts and a few Great Courses audio books so take the following with a grain of salt. This episode contains the second time I have heard you talk about conversations with your father in law and your frustration with syllogisms. I am curious if you are aware of the difference between valid and sound arguments. I kind of agree with you about knowledge and philosophy. Philosophy doesn’t discover knowledge as much as it is a tool for evaluating how true the knowledge is.
Thanks for a great podcast from a fellow canuck who lives about 2 1/2 hours east of you.

    1. Heya! Thanks for the message. Always nice to hear from listeners & fellow Canucks especially! I am aware of the differences between arguments. I use the example to demonstrate my point. The faithful commonly try to pass off arguments as sound & valid….Matt Slick would be a good example of this. Let us know what podcasts you listen to about philosophy. Cheers!
